ramadan 2024
Discover the significance of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, a sacred period cherished by Muslims worldwide. During this time, believers engage in spiritual introspection and rejuvenation, observing rigorous fasting from dawn until sunset for 29 or 30 days.
Commencing with the sighting of the new moon, Ramadan marks a period of devout dedication to religious practice. While the start and end dates may vary due to moonsighting variances, the essence remains unchanged.
As stated in the Qur’an: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” (Surat Al-Baqarah 2:183).
The purpose of this fasting ritual is evident: to foster righteousness. In Arabic, the Qur’an refers to this as ‘Mutaqeen’ – a state of godliness, piety, and righteousness. Fasting serves as a pathway toward spiritual elevation and closeness to the Divine, allowing individuals to embody the virtues of piety and God-consciousness.
